10. gilgai pattern on Vertisol landscape
Texas

This image shows another example of gilgai micro-topography commonly associated with Vertisols. The gilgai pattern seen here consists of micro-knolls surrounding circular micro-depressions, which are filled with water. This pattern is more common on nearly level landscapes such as seen here, while the micro-ridge and micro-valley gilgai relief is more common on sloping landscapes (see Image 9).
