5. fine, smectitic, frigid Xeric Epiaquert
(Boulder Lake series)

Boulder Lake soils are found in smooth, flat enclosed interplateau basins and lake plains, where they have formed in fine-textured lacustrine sediments. Although average annual precipitation is only about 15", these soils are subject to annual inundation for short periods as a result of runoff from surrounding soils.
