5. Haplocryalf landscape
Caribou Co., ID

This landscape is typical of the mountainous areas of southeastern Idaho at 6,600-8,000 ft (2000-4240 m) elevation. Mean annual precipitation is approximately 25" (635 mm). Associated native vegetation includes subalpine fir, Douglas-fir, myrtle pachystima, snowberry, and pine reedgrass. Because of the colder climate, these soils are primarily for timber production, some livestock grazing, and recreation.
