Materials Required:
1) Textbook: Brady, N.C., and R.R. Weil. 1999. The Nature and Properties of Soils. 12th ed. Prentice Hall, Inc., New Jersey.
2) Video tapes: A set of videos will be sent to you prior to the beginning of the semester. The tapes were made by Dr. Denny Naylor who recently retired from U of I. The information on the course requirements and grading has changed and students enrolled during Spring 2001 or later should follow the guidelines below. Instead of purchasing a course note packet that Dr. Naylor references in the video tapes, lecture notes will be posted on the web.
Prerequisites: CHEM 050 or 101
Grading: There will be four homework assignments, a midterm, and a final throughout the semester. They will be assigned the following point values:

*It is the students responsibility to keep up with the assigned reading material
and lectures. It is very easy to fall behind when taking a video/web
course. The dates above are to help you stay on track, and represent the
last day by which an assignment should be turned in. I will gladly accept
assignments ahead of schedule.
